The Valley, facing east/west, is surrounded by high mountains: The Massif of Parpaillon in the north, the Chambeyron in the south-east, the Séolannes in the south. The surrounding mountain peaks are over 3000m high. The sedimentary rock mountains were formed under sea level, then rose up and folded when the Alps were formed. The Ubaye Valley which is located between the Queyras Natural Reserve and the Mercantour National Park is an exceptional natural paradise.
